The math has changed. Two-thirds of traffic isn't coming back.

If you have checked your analytics lately and felt like something is wrong, you are probably right.
For two decades, we had a deal. If we wrote good stuff, Google may rank it, and people clicked through. It was the bread and butter for every lead and potential sale in content marketing.
Well, Google has binned that deal with AI Search.
New data from SparkToro and Similarweb reveals that 68.01% of Google searches now end without a click. That is nearly seven out of ten searches.
This is not a glitch. It is a massive shift in how the internet works.
Google is Now a Walled Garden
People are still searching, but they are not leaving Google.
With AI Overviews, Google just gives the answer at the top of the page. Whether someone is looking for a hotel in Galway or legal advice, the AI handles it. The user gets what they need and leaves, and you never even get a look-in.
The click is on its way out, and traditional SEO metrics are starting to look a bit useless.
Moving From Clicks to Citations
Trying to “do more SEO” is like trying to push water uphill. You cannot force people to click when Google is designed to stop them.
So, what is the plan?
Stop chasing clicks and start chasing inclusion.
When AI summarizes an answer, it picks a few credible sources. If that is you, you win the trust and the business, even without the immediate click.
To get there, your digital presence needs to be spotless and easy for AI to verify. If it is a mess, the AI will just pick your competitor.
At AiSe, we are Ireland’s first consultancy built for this shift. We help you audit your footprint so you are the one the AI talks about.
The internet has changed, but being found is still the goal. Get in touch with AiSe, and let’s make sure you are the answer
